Side Effects of Resveratrol – Are There Any?
As with any type of medication, herbal supplement or drug there is bound to be side effects. Some are good, or unexpected. Some are bad. You have to weigh the difference between the good and the bad side effects to figure out if you want to continue taking the supplement. Resveratrol is no different and does have its own side effects. While most of these side effects are good, some of them are bad.
Let’s start with the good side effects. One of the most common side effects of Resveratrol is weight loss. Most people have reported the loss of good amounts of weight; some as much as four pounds in one week.
While there is limited research, weight loss seems to be the number one leading positive side effect. Enhanced endurance and increased muscle mass are two other side effects. Runners have experienced longer endurances for running and physical activity. Athletes have noticed increased muscle masses.
Some of the negative effects are tendinitis pain, primarily in the Achilles heel tendon. People have felt arthritic type joint pain when on higher doses of Resveratrol. It is possible to experience stomach pain and diarrhea. A few have experience numbness in their extremities that lasts for only a few minutes at a time.
Before taking Resveratrol, as with any new medication, you need to look at the possible side effects. See if it is something you are willing to cope with and doesn’t seem too severe before you begin a regimen. However, with Resveratrol, it seems the good benefits outweigh the bad ones.
